Hum Tum And Them a web series on ZEE5 attracted my attention initially for the lead character Shweta Tiwari who plays the role of a single parent Shiva. The trailer is promising and will definitely want you to watch the entire web series. It is the story of two single parents Shiva and Yudi (played by Akshay Oberoi), who try a second chance at love. They also have children who are teenagers and are trying to deal with their past. Amidst all the ups and downs Shiva and Yudi struggle to maintain their relationships.

Shweta Tiwari is playing the role of a divorced woman with a 13-year-old daughter, Jahaan. She is trying to live her new life as an independent single woman. It comes to her as a shock when her daughter starts blaming her for the divorce. Yudi, played by Akshay Oberoi, is a father with three children, Aaryan, Ojhas, and Vyoma, who lost his wife to cancer 5 years ago and is now dealing with the teenage issues of his children. Shiva and Yudi find love again in each other but their personal apprehensions and their children’s disapproval keep them from truly coming together. Shweta Tiwari is a treat to watch with her new look and attractive screen presence. She has thanked producer Ekta Kapoor for giving her the character of Shiva and how Hum Tum And Them ensured she comes out of her comfort zone. Referring to things like chopping off her long tresses to filming intimate scenes with Akshay, Shweta speaks about pushing her boundaries.

“I’m truly honoured to be a part of this project, not only because of it’s one of a kind storyline but also the fact that it pushed me out of my comfort zone, right from chopping my hair to portraying the kind of intimacy and vulnerability that I didn’t think I was courageous enough to show, and I didn’t make it easy. I cried, a lot, felt anxious every single day but there’s irrefutably no other team of people that would have pushed me more effectively. She looks like the mom that every kid would want but the role offers more to her and that is where she comes out beautifully. The chemistry she shares with Akshay is outstanding. The age issues are also handled maturely and add to the fun.
Akshay Oberoi is perfect for the role of a pleasant and attractive middle-aged man who is still young at heart. His body language and demeanour make the whole act convincing. The comfortable chemistry he shares with Swetha brightens up the intimate scenes. The four kids, Bhavin Bhanushali, Gautham Ahuja, Aashika Bhatia and Sara Gesawat have distinct characterisations and have portrayed their roles wonderfully.
Overall, Hum Tum And Them on ZEE5 makes for a pleasant watch. With a promising cast, intense storyline and the background score, it definitely is a show not to miss at all.
