D – Donate Your Sunday

(Story shared by Pranoti Muley)

#DonateYourSunday is one of the initiatives of YES (Yuva Ekta Samiti), a community for educating the society, formed by the youth of Anand, Gujarat. Under this initiative they visit rural areas to spread awareness about education. For this, they encourage the youth of nearby colleges and offices to devote one Sunday and spend that day with children, teaching them and convincing their parents to send them back to school. Their main concern is to reduce the drop-out rates of the schools in the rural areas. On January 20th, 2019, YES group formed 40 teams of 8 volunteers each and reached out to more than 400 children and their families.

Their efforts are showing results and gradually they are expanding their base to Ahmedabad, Nadiad, Vadodara and Surat. If you also live in any of these places and wish to donate your Sunday for this noble cause, you can contact them through social media or call here  +91 88668 04951

Every small step taken towards educating our society will do wonders in the future. Let’s pledge to do something good today. How about donating a Sunday?

Do Good, Share Goodness.

You can also become a part of our collaborative effort to spread goodness. If you do/see any act of goodness, share with us at royrashi@gmail.com or smilegifters@gmail.com and win your badge.

  1. Over decades the society has become more materialistic and no one teaches giving back to society at younger age to inculcate it as a habit. Most of the people feel donating money is way to give back to Society but truth is that one needs to give TIME.
    Great initiative!! Great Effort.
thanks for sharing this Rashi !

    1. Absolutely. It’s not always about money. We can donate our time and knowledge too. Thanks for appreciating.

  2. Rashi, this is good initiative. In the world which has become more materialistic and forget the importance of giving back to Society we live in . Thanks for bringing such stories to highlight. Let’s be crusaders to bring in the change by giving our Sunday Time for such social causes.

    1. You can! Let me know if you or anybody is interested to start this activity in their local areas, I can get in touch with the YES team. Thanks a lot

        1. Not at all. You can join hands from your current location. Just form a small group of 4-5 friends and visit an area where you think you can spread awareness about education. Am so glad you are showing interest. Let me know if you want to be a part of it, I’ll share the details. Thankyou so much 🙂

          1. Once i started a project but sudden mishap of a group member damaged everything, i have always tried to do something good(awareness) for the society.
            Kindly share me the details.

          2. Sorry about that. It’s nice to see you are taking an initiative. You can get in touch with Anand Trivedi (7016227448) and discuss about #DonateYourSunday activity. You can start a similar awareness drive in your current location and be a part of the great cause. Let me know when you go for it, would love to feature it. Thankyou so much 🙂

  3. Hats off to these volunteers and indeed it is a great initiative with great efforts. I would also love to do something like this in my life. and with this series, I am feeling so inspired and positive.

    1. So glad to know that and this is just ‘D’ am sure by the time we reach ‘Z’ I’ll get many more volunteers 🙂

  4. As far as this initiative is concerned it ought to be taken up in all states in the country. I live in Kerala where the literacy percentage is 98 but a number of regions have a pathetic literacy rate and children drop out of school very quickly in rural areas. This scheme could work wonders in all these places.

    1. Yes, they are expanding, all they need is volunteers. Let me know if some local people from Kerala are ready for this activity. I can get in touch with YES team for the rest. Thankyou so much 🙂

  5. A great initiative indeed! Spending a Sunday in spreading knowledge not only contribute to the society’s growth, but in turn, gives one an immense satisfaction and peace and overall upliftment of the society.
